Barriers and tent pitches

If you are organising a small event, you may need to close off (part of) the road using crowd barriers. You can borrow crowd barriers if you have an events licence.

You must set up these crowd barriers yourself in advance and return them yourself once the event has finished. The use of crowd barriers is free of charge. You are responsible for transport, loading/unloading and setting up/removing them. A barrier is 2.3 m wide and 1.1 m high and weighs 18 kg. You will receive further information about barriers with your event licence.

Pitching a tent

If you are going to erect a tent at an event, please include this in your licence application. You do not need to submit a separate notification for this. If you are erecting a marquee for which no event permit is required – for example, for a private business event – you may still need to submit a notification for the marquee.

The Decree Fire safety and basic first aid in other locations (BGBOP) sets out fire safety regulations for premises for which no fire safety requirements are laid down under other regulations.
