There are three types of cards:
- Driver’s licence: for people who drive themselves.
- Passenger card: for people who are unable to drive themselves.
- Card for organisations: for care homes that transport residents.
Driver’s licence
You can apply for this if:
- You have been unable to walk more than 100 metres (European parking card) or 200 metres (local parking card) for at least 6 months, even with aids such as a walking stick or crutches, and
- You have a valid driving licence. It must be valid for at least another 6 months.
The card is personal. So you don’t need to own a car. No registration number will appear on the card.
Passenger card
You can apply for this if:
- You have been unable to walk more than 100 metres (European parking permit) or 200 metres (local parking permit) for at least 6 months, even with aids such as a walking stick or crutches, and
- You’ll always need help from a driver, from door to door, and
- You cannot wait at your destination whilst the driver is parking.
The card is personal. It will not feature a registration number.
This allows your driver to park in a disabled parking space.
Children can also be issued with a passenger card if they meet the same conditions.
Card for organisations
You can apply for this if:
- Your organisation is accredited to provide long-term care (Wlz), and
- Your organisation provides group transport using its own vehicles.
You can apply for the card via our online form. To do so, you will need:
- Your own DigiD to log in.
- Money to pay directly online via iDEAL.
- In the case of a driver card: a digital copy of the driver’s driving licence.
- In the event of theft: a digital copy of your police report.
Note
You will always be charged for your application, even if you are not entitled to a card. This fee is non-refundable. We will only process your application if you pay at the end of the form.
Following your application
We will assess whether you meet the criteria. You will be notified of the outcome by post. This can sometimes take a few weeks. If a medical certificate is required, we will let you know.
If your application is approved, we will ask you to provide a passport-sized photograph.
The fees for the European and municipal parking permits are the same. You can pay the fees by debit card or in cash at the Wmo counter. We prefer payment by debit card.
- If you are submitting an application (or renewal application): €118.90
You must pay these fees in advance. You will not be refunded if we reject your application. - If you wish to change the name on an existing parking permit: €38.90
- If you wish to apply for a new card because yours has been lost or stolen: €78.00
If you are applying for a disabled parking permit for the first time, you may be eligible for a refund if your income is less than 130% of the the social assistance rate applicable to you. To be eligible for this, you must apply for the reimbursement within 6 months of the disability parking permit being issued. You can do this via the website or by calling 14 055.
Do you live in Apeldoorn and are you on a low income? If so, you may be eligible for a refund of the cost of your disabled parking permit. Your income must be below 130% of the social assistance threshold. Check the income thresholds.
