Disabled parking space

If you have a physical disability, you may be able to obtain a reserved parking space close to your home. You can apply for a parking space if you hold a European parking card for drivers with disabilities and you own a car or microcar.

  • Please complete the online application form.
  • We will contact you by telephone if we need any further information.
  • You will receive a letter within 6 to 8 weeks of your appointment. The letter will state whether or not you have been allocated a parking space.

Do you need help filling in the online form? Ask someone you know to help you. If there’s no one around to help, you can contact Social counsellors.

You are entitled to a disabled parking space in the following situations:

  • You have a European disabled parking card for drivers and
  • You have a car or microcar registered in your name or in the name of someone you live with. Please note: if you have a Canta or another vehicle for people with disabilities that does not require a driving licence, you are not entitled to a disabled parking space, and
  • You have a valid driving licence, and
  • You do not have on-site parking facilities or the option to create them, or
  • You have a garage, but it is less than 3.5 metres wide.

Whether we can reserve a disabled parking space for you depends on the circumstances surrounding your home. We may reject your application in the following cases:

  • You do not meet the criteria.
  • There is no suitable car park within 100 metres.
  • The construction of the car park has made the road unsafe for other road users.
  • If local residents raise objections.

How much do you pay for a disabled parking space?

In 2026, you will pay €118.90 to apply for the parking space. If your application is rejected, the fee will not be refunded.

How do you pay for a disabled parking space?

When completing the application, you pay the application fee directly via iDeal. Your application will only be processed once the application fee has been paid.

Change vehicle registration number

Do you have a disabled parking space but are you getting a different car or microcar? If so, the number plate will need to be replaced. You cannot do this yourself; you will need to submit a request to Apeldoorn Council.

Please notify us of any change to your registration number at least 10 working days before the change takes effect. You can do this by completing the application/change form.

There is no charge for replacing the number plate.

Please have the following details to hand:

  • Your old registration number
  • Your new registration number.
  • The date on which the vehicle registration will be transferred to your name

Moving

Are you moving house and do you need a disabled parking space at your new home? If so, you will need to submit a new application. The local authority will reassess the traffic situation at your new address.

Cancel current parking space

New application

  • Are you continuing to live in the municipality of Apeldoorn? If so, please apply for a new parking space via the application form.
  • Are you moving to another local authority area? If so, you will need to submit a new application there. Please check your new local authority’s website or contact them for further information.

For yourself

Do you no longer use your parking space, or are you no longer entitled to it?

If your circumstances change such that you are no longer entitled to, or no longer use, the disabled parking space allocated to you, please let us know.

What changes do you need to report:

  • You no longer have a valid driving licence
  • You no longer have a European disabled parking permit
  • You’re moving house · You no longer drive a car.
  • You no longer have a car.

For someone else

If you wish to cancel a disabled parking space on behalf of someone else, you may do so if the holder of the parking space has moved house or passed away. To do this, you will need the name and address details of the holder of the parking space. You can cancel the parking space using the form ‘Application for/change to a disabled parking space’.
