Various types of organisations can access your personal data from the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). For example, for pensions, benefits, housing benefit, taxes or legal proceedings. Which organisations these are depends partly on your personal circumstances. For example, whether you have children or a driving licence.

Take a look at the central government website who is authorised to request which data.

You can request a list of the organisations to which we have disclosed your personal data from the BRP (Basic Register of Persons). You have this right under the BRP Act.

It will take up to 4 weeks for you to receive the statement. The local authority not only checks its own systems, but also finds out which central government bodies have accessed your data. This may take some time.
