The Personal Records Database contains personal data on everyone living in the Netherlands. The government uses this data, for example, to issue identity cards or driving licences. The government also uses data from the Personal Records Database to determine who is eligible to vote in elections and to administer benefits.

You must submit any changes in person at the reception desk in the town hall. Please make an appointment by calling 14055.
Please bring:
- A valid identity document
- Official source documents, such as a birth certificate if you wish to have your date of birth changed. These documents must comply with the relevant terms and conditions.
We may retain your original document for verification purposes. You will be given a receipt to confirm this.
We will make a decision regarding your request to amend your details in the BRP within four weeks of receiving it. You will be notified of this in writing.
It is not always possible to change your details. If your details have been recorded correctly in accordance with the law, no correction will be made. In that case, we will reject your request.
Updating your details in the National Population Register is free of charge.
In order to amend your personal data, we require the original documents proving that the information held in the BRP is incorrect. For documents from certain countries, an apostille or legalisation stamp must be affixed, or the document must be translated. You can find more information on this at the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or see submit the deed and have it registered.
If you no longer live in the Netherlands but have dealings with a government body, you will be listed in the Non-Residents Register. If any of your details in the register are incorrect, please contact one of the RNI service point municipalities (website of the National Identity Data Service).
You must submit the request to change your details in the Personal Records Database yourself. If you are a minor, your guardian must submit the request, and if you are under a guardianship order, your guardian must submit the request.
