You can apply for special assistance to cover the following costs apply online
- Administration, guardianship and mentorship;
- The personal contribution towards legal aid, court registry fees and administrative fees

Parents are required to contribute to the maintenance of their children who have reached the age of majority but are aged between 18 and 21. Special assistance is only available to cover essential costs if the parents’ means are insufficient or if there is a strained relationship with the parents. In order to assess whether this is the case, we ask you to enquiry form (PDF, 89.5 kB) to be completed.

Do you have an appointment at the service desk? If so, you are welcome to fill in this form in advance and bring it with you, but you can also do so after the staff member has carried out an initial assessment of your request for assistance.
Special assistance is a very personal matter. We assess your personal and financial circumstances to determine whether you are entitled to special assistance. In doing so, we take into account your income and assets, such as your home, car or savings. If your income is higher, you may not be eligible for special assistance to cover all your additional costs.
- You’ve suddenly got some extra costs.
- You must pay these costs.
- You cannot afford the costs from your income or savings.
- There is no other scheme that can reimburse these costs.
- You will incur the costs in the Netherlands.
Have you received a letter stating that you must first send the invoice before you can receive special assistance?
You can then submit your claim using the ‘Special Assistance Claim’ button above. Once the claim has been approved, the special assistance will be paid out.
