You can apply for a temporary letting licence if you meet the following conditions:
- You are the owner/landlord of the vacant property
- the property is vacant
- You cannot sell the property or let it on a long-term basis (for example, because it is not a good time to do so).
- the property is due to be demolished or renovated
You must enclose the following documents with your application:
- copy of the title deed
- copy of the instruction to sell
We will assess your application against the criteria set out in the Vacant Properties Act and process it within 3 weeks.
The conditions for this licence are:
- Only the owner/landlord can apply for a temporary letting licence
- The local authority will only grant the licence if
- the property is vacant
- you are unable to sell or let the property on a long-term basis (for example, because the market conditions are unfavourable at that time).
