Skilled sewerage worker in the Water and Sewerage Unit

The municipality of Apeldoorn is looking for a Skilled sewerage worker (36 hours) in the Water and Sewerage unit. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure the smooth operation of the sewerage system throughout the municipality of Apeldoorn for our more than 169,000 residents. You will repair leaks, domestic and manhole connections, install new connections and carry out all necessary repair work on the gravity sewer system. If required, you may also be called upon to work on the emergency call-out service. You will work in a fixed team of two people, although you may also be asked to join another team to lend a hand where needed.

About the Management and Maintenance Unit
The Management and Maintenance Unit is responsible for keeping public spaces intact, safe and clean. This ranges from the upkeep of green spaces and roads to sewerage systems, cemeteries and pumping stations. Residents’ involvement is playing an increasingly important role in management and maintenance. Consequently, more and more work is being carried out by and in consultation with residents. After all, public spaces belong to us all. In addition to 200 permanent staff, we also work with around 100 people from supported employment schemes. The social aspect plays a major role within the Management and Maintenance department. What do we expect from you?

• You have a VMBO/MBO3 level of working and thinking. You have completed a vocational training programme and/or have demonstrable work experience in civil engineering, preferably working in or on the sewerage system.
• Availability for on-call duty may form part of the role.
• You hold a C-CE driving licence or are willing to obtain one.
• You hold a VCA certificate. You are also flexible, efficient and customer-focused, and you are able to solve problems and work in a business-oriented manner.
• Experience with automated management systems, such as working on an iPad, is an advantage.
• Experience and/or training in operating a mini-crane is preferred, or you must be willing to undertake such training.
• You are willing to undertake the ‘Working Safely in Sewers’ course (3 days), the ‘Working Safely Along Roads’ course and training on handling asbestos.

• A gross monthly salary of at least € 2.472 and up to € 3.416 per month (scale 4). This excludes two inconvenience allowances of €78 gross;
