Neighbourhood Consultant on Parenting and Growing Up

As a neighbourhood counsellor specialising in parenting and growing up, you are that person. Together with families, you look at what is possible, what resources are already available within their network, and what support will help them move forward again.

The neighbourhood team Together055 It is easily accessible in five districts of Apeldoorn. Residents can contact the neighbourhood team with questions on any aspect of their lives.

Here’s what you’ll be doing
As a consultant for the neighbourhood team, you listen, ask probing questions and explore how families and young people can move forward on their own. Sometimes with the help of their own network, sometimes with light support, and sometimes with specialist help.

In doing so, you take a broader view than simply focusing on parenting and growing up. You are able to look at a situation from different perspectives and work with the family to find appropriate solutions. The support focuses on increasing the family’s self-reliance and strengthening their social network.

You are well acquainted with the social services in Apeldoorn and know how to make the most of them.

In practical terms, this means that you:

• conducts initial assessments in families’ homes
• comprehensively identifies requests for assistance
• listens, offers advice and works with the family and their support network to find solutions
• assesses whether professional help is needed and which form is most suitable
• refer families, where necessary, to suitable (primary) services within Samen055 or among its partner organisations
• plays a coordinating role: you are not a frontline care worker yourself, but ensure that the right support is put in place

In addition, you have:

• at least a higher professional education (HBO) qualification in a relevant field (e.g. social work or education)
• SKJ registration, or the opportunity to become registered through a practical training programme
  (The CJG is an accredited SKJ training institution)
• preferably at least 2 years’ relevant work experience
• knowledge of and experience with different target groups
