There are many challenges and developments in this area. That is why there is a need for greater coordination and cooperation between the people and organisations involved in the Grote Wetering catchment area.
Improving the landscape and biodiversity
The Gelderland Landscape Management Foundation (SLG) aims to enhance the landscape and the overall diversity of plants and animals in the project area. SLG achieves this by connecting areas through the planting of trees and shrubs and the creation of ponds and riverbanks. SLG advises interested residents and landowners on how to manage and maintain their land in a way that benefits nature. They also draw up plans that prioritise the use of plants native to the area. Participants make their own contribution, and in some cases, compensation for the work carried out may be available. Visit the website slgelderland.nl For more information about this project.
Support with implementing initiatives
Do you have an idea that could help with climate adaptation and/or making agriculture more sustainable? Take a look at the website natuurenmilieugelderland.nl For more information about this project.
Natuur en Milieu Gelderland is looking for local initiatives. Residents, farmers, (leisure) business owners, nature organisations and landowners in the Grote Wetering catchment area can receive financial support for these initiatives. Examples of initiatives include:
- Collaboration between a farmer, a nature reserve manager and a water board to promote nature-inclusive agriculture;
- Designing a ditch or stream with due regard for nature;
- Landscape management for the badger.
These initiatives offer support with organisation and process guidance. In addition, advice is provided on drawing up plans for nature-inclusive agriculture.
