Refurbishment of Schubertplein

Schubertplein is being refurbished. The square no longer meets today’s needs and requirements. That is why we are developing a new design for Schubertplein. We are doing this in collaboration with local residents, business owners and visitors.

The revamped Schubertplein will be greener, offer more space for people to meet, and make parking more convenient. These wishes emerged clearly from discussions with residents, visitors and business owners. In 2024, around 300 people completed an online questionnaire. When drawing up the preliminary design, every effort was made to take all comments, wishes and ideas into account as far as possible.

Sketch topic

The preliminary design was presented to interested parties at an information evening on 15 April 2025. We will take the feedback we received there into account when drawing up the preliminary design. We expect to be able to present the preliminary design later this year.

Next steps and planning

Unfortunately, the process of redesigning Schubertplein is taking longer than previously anticipated. The earlier design did not provide enough space for the market, which means the design needs to be revised once again.

We are currently in this design phase and are working on a revised plan that incorporates sufficient space for the market. We expect to have a new design ready in the first quarter of 2026. We intend to present this design to the local community in the second quarter of 2026. Residents living near Schubertplein will receive an invitation to this event in due course.
