As an employer, you can enter into an employment contract with refugees from Ukraine. No work permit is required for this. However, there are a few things you need to bear in mind before employing a refugee from Ukraine.
Information for employers
Compulsory reporting to the UWV
Under certain conditions, an employee from Ukraine does not need a work permit to work in the Netherlands. However, employers are obliged to notify the UWV at least two working days before the employment contract comes into effect that they are employing a Ukrainian refugee. Anyone who fails to do so may be fined. Further information can be found on the the UWV website.
Placement through Lucrato Work-based Learning Centre
Since 1 April 2022, people who have fled Ukraine have been able to work in the Netherlands. Due to language barriers and regulations that differ from those in their own country, it can be quite difficult to sort this out. Lucrato helps refugees find paid work. They also explain what is required to be allowed to work and what rights people have. Lucrato has an interpreter who advises Ukrainian jobseekers in their own language about job opportunities in the local area.
