Apeldoorn as a rainbow municipality

This is what we do as the Rainbow Congregation

• On 17 May (Idahot – the International Day Against LGBTIQA+ Phobia) and on 11 October (Coming Out Day), we will raise the rainbow flag at the town hall.
• We work closely with the Movisie think tank, which supports us through the Rainbow Municipalities Programme.
• In collaboration with the municipality of Apeldoorn, the foundation Pride055 is committed to ensuring that the town and villages together form a truly inclusive rainbow community – a community where everyone feels at home, is accepted and is safe.
• We are a member of the Inclusive Sport for LGBTIQA+ People working group.
• We focus on expanding local, regional and national LGBTIQA+ networks in order to share knowledge and learn from one another.
• We include m/f/x above our job vacancies.
• In 2018, we signed the Diversity Charter, in which we declare our commitment to diversity and inclusion within the municipal organisation, so that our workforce reflects the diversity of Apeldoorn’s community.

Overview of inclusion activities

As a local authority, we want residents to be able to participate without restriction. That is why the local authority, together with partners, organisations and businesses, aims to remove obstacles and barriers, so that everyone can fulfil their potential and participate in society. The Inclusion Activities Overview sets out what we are working on in 2023 and 2024 to make Apeldoorn an increasingly inclusive place. Pages 7 to 9 list the activities that we, as a Rainbow Municipality, consider important.
