The municipality of Apeldoorn is getting new welcome signs in the distinctive Veluwe style. The roll-out has officially begun with the unveiling of the first sign in Klarenbeek. Over the coming period, the signs will be installed along the main access roads to Apeldoorn and its villages.
The welcome signs were developed by Routebureau Veluwe, on behalf of the Veluwe Alliance. They form part of a single, recognisable Veluwe style, through which local authorities in the region welcome visitors in a contemporary and hospitable manner. At the same time, each village is given its own image that reflects the local surroundings and the village’s identity.
In total, the council is putting up around forty signs. At some locations, they are replacing existing welcome signs, whilst at others, new signs are being installed. The signs will be installed along the access roads to Apeldoorn and the villages of Hoog Soeren, Uddel, Radio Kootwijk, Hoenderloo, Loenen, Klarenbeek, Oosterhuizen, Lieren, Beekbergen, Beemte Broekland, Wenum-Wiesel and Ugchelen.
The village councils were consulted when selecting the images. As a result, each sign reflects the distinctive features and qualities of the village or its surroundings.
Councillor Jarin van der Zande unveiled the first sign in Klarenbeek today. “With these signs, we extend a warm welcome to visitors and new residents alike. At the same time, we show that Apeldoorn and our villages are all part of the beautiful Veluwe region, where every village has its own story and character.”
With its new welcome signs, Apeldoorn is following the example of other municipalities in the Veluwe that are already using the common Veluwe style. This creates a recognisable look for the entire region, whilst preserving the unique identity of each municipality and village.
