Royal honour for Mr G.A. Dijkman from Apeldoorn

Ger Dijkman (78) from Apeldoorn received a royal honour from Mayor Ton Heerts on Saturday 6 June 2026. He has been appointed a Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. He received this honour in recognition of his more than 40 years of service to the CSV Apeldoorn football club.

Ger Dijkman started out in 1984 as a youth team manager and assistant linesman at CSV Apeldoorn. In 1986, he became a board member (youth chairman and secretary). He held these posts until 1991. From 1991 to 2005, he served as administrator and general competition secretary. In 2005, he became secretary of the executive committee, whilst continuing his work as administrator for the club. He continued in this role until December 2025.

In his voluntary roles for CSV Apeldoorn, he took on a wide range of tasks. These ranged from organising referees, allocating changing rooms and pitches, distributing kit and keeping track of results, to purchasing equipment, handling KNVB disciplinary cases and arranging gifts for anniversaries. As an administrator, he devoted many hours over the years to maintaining the (membership) records, which he did with the utmost precision.

He has also been involved in organising the Apeldoorn Cup since 2017, the annual tournament for all first teams from Apeldoorn’s football clubs. In his role as match secretary, he ensures that the tournament runs smoothly – from filling in the match forms and keeping track of the time to allocating the changing rooms.

Mr Dijkman’s long-standing and wide-ranging commitment, together with his meticulous approach and reliability, are testament to his exceptional dedication to community life.
