De Ambacht, situated on the corner of Stationsstraat and Molenstraat-Centrum, is to be expanded with a residential tower block comprising 187 affordable flats. The distinctive building of the former vocational school and its historic features will be preserved as far as possible. The new plans will continue to provide space for businesses, hospitality venues and green spaces.
Doing business, relaxing, socialising and living. You can do it all at De Ambacht. This is where Apeldoorn’s history and future come together. A building everyone knows: De Ambacht in Apeldoorn. Although it may look like a simple box-like structure, the building has great historical value. It was once the pride of the school’s pupils and teachers. And it still evokes warm feelings and memories among the people of Apeldoorn.
The property developer is working on an innovative concept where you can live, work, socialise and relax all in one place. Think of it as a city within a city. Soon, you’ll be able to step out of your home, meet up with family and friends at the café or restaurant, work in the spaces designed for that purpose, and collect your parcels from the collection point. If you need a shared car, it’ll be waiting for you too. And all of this in a green setting. We hope to create a pleasant place where people can come together – not just for the residents of De Ambacht, but for the neighbours too.
The local authority and the developer reached an agreement on the plan on 31 October. The next step is the environmental plan. This will be made available for public inspection in November.
