Preliminary designs for Sprengenweg

On Tuesday evening, 11 March, we presented the preliminary design to around 120 interested residents and business owners. The preliminary design was well received. Questions and comments from those present are now being reviewed and, where possible, incorporated into the design. You can find the preliminary designs that were shown on this page.

The preliminary design is divided into five sub-areas. The preliminary designs are explained below for each sub-area.

Overzichtskaart deelgebied 1 Sprengenweg, Henri Dunantlaan – Moeflonstraat

  • 50 km/h with dedicated cycle lanes (partly in place)
  • Henri Dunantlaan roundabout: slow down
  • improved crossability thanks to the roundabout
  • felling some existing trees and replanting some new ones
  • number of parking spaces: 8 > 7

  • safe crossing points at roundabouts and traffic islands
  • bus stop moved to UDO
  • footpaths serving residential properties only
  • more trees
  • no parking spaces, from 0 to 0

  • GOW30 > Bicycles and cars sharing the carriageway
  • profile more or less the same as at present
  • reddish-brown tarmac: cyclists may use the whole carriageway
  • intersection islands (Bartelsweg & Badhuisweg) with a safe crossing point
  • Parking on a raised area (diagonal strip) next to the carriageway, from 20 spaces to 19 spaces
  • footpaths alongside houses
  • additional trees in the central reservation

  • Work to begin in Q3 2026; duration approximately 1 year; work to be carried out in phases
