Notification regarding fire safety in other locations

If you are organising an event in the open air or in a temporary structure or accommodation area (such as a tent, a tent camp, a grandstand or a stage), basic fire safety rules apply. These rules can be found in the BGBOP decision. In certain cases, you must submit a notification for the activity.

Required when operating or commencing operation of a site with:

• A lounge area for more than 150 people;
• Accommodation for more than 10 people where overnight accommodation is provided on a commercial basis or as part of care services;
• A communal area for more than 10 people where care is provided to:

1. People under the age of 12;
2. People with physical or intellectual disabilities

• Equivalent solution based on Chapters 3 to 5 of the BBGBOP

• If you already have a event licence is going to apply or has applied. In that case, the rules and regulations will be taken into account.
• If an events licence has already been granted and fire safety has been assessed.
• If there is already a environmental permit for the fire-safe use of buildings is required or has been granted.

A notification under the BGBOP Decree can be submitted by completing the online notification form for fire safety and basic emergency response at other locations. This notification form can be found by clicking the orange button above.

The notification must be submitted at least four weeks before the start of the activity. The notification is hereby accepted. If, following assessment, it is deemed necessary to impose additional conditions to prevent, minimise and combat fire, fire hazards and fire-related accidents, you will receive a further notification to that effect.

When submitting a report, you must also provide the following attachments:

1. A site plan with a north arrow.
2. A floor plan drawn to scale or with dimensions, showing any existing features larger than 25 m².
3. In the case of a structure containing an occupancy area (e.g. a marquee, grandstand) intended to accommodate more than 150 people at any one time, the maximum occupancy of that area must be stated. The floor plan must show the following for each occupancy area:
   a. the floor area available per person;
   b. the intended use;
   c. the installation of fixtures and fittings (such as stands, stalls, shelves, stages and similar items of furnishings);
   d. the location (where available) of:
   1. fire- and smoke-resistant partition structures;
   2. escape routes;
   3. direction of rotation of passageways as referred to in Article 4.16;
   4. emergency exits, with an indication of their width;
   5. escape route markings as referred to in Article 4.15;
   6. emergency lighting as referred to in Article 4.3;
   7. fire-fighting equipment as referred to in Article 4.20, and
   8. fire service access as referred to in Article 4.24.
      The designations comply with NEN 1413, where this standard so provides.
