Brinkhorst Driehuizen is a diverse neighbourhood. Its narrow streets are still lined with many pre-war houses. A particular highlight is Sprengendorp, a working-class neighbourhood home to Apeldoorn’s first terraced houses. A total of around 7,600 people live there. Many residents are on the older side, but the neighbourhood also attracts young families. Amenities such as schools and shops are nearby.
Residents generally enjoy living here. They get on well with one another and know where to find each other. However, there are also residents with concerns, such as whether they have enough income. Fortunately, there are various forms of support and opportunities to socialise in the neighbourhood. We can build on that.
Road safety is a cause for concern. People drive too fast in some places. Some crossings are dangerous.
People also find it a problem that there are fewer and fewer buses running. We need other forms of transport.
Residents generally feel safe in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood app helps to ensure this. However, they would like to see the community police officer and the neighbourhood warden be more visible.
As many houses are older, they are sometimes still poorly insulated. Owners of owner-occupied homes would like advice on how to address this. And tenants would like to see improvements made to their homes.
Generally speaking, residents are happy with the outdoor space. However, there is a demand for more play areas for young families. And in some places, parking is a problem.
Together with residents and organisations, we’re setting to work to make the neighbourhood a little bit nicer. ‘Contributors’ play a major role in this: residents who actively contribute ideas. We’ve drawn up a plan of action setting out the initiatives we’ll be undertaking.
The following areas will receive particular attention in the coming years. First and foremost, we are working to maintain social cohesion in the neighbourhood. We will also be addressing traffic, transport and local facilities. We are looking into ways of improving the sense of safety. And finally, we will be tackling the issue of public spaces.
