Greater focus on ageing

We’re looking at ways to support people as they grow older. For example, a coach from the housing association can help tenants explore suitable housing options. At the Spar, there are sometimes volunteers you can talk to about growing older. The neighbourhood newsletter from the De Sprengen neighbourhood council lists the times they’re there.

Focus on loneliness

We are committed to reducing loneliness:

• We help people to meet others.
• In the local newsletter, we focus on loneliness and informal care. We also draw residents’ attention to the Buurtwijzer, which provides information on activities, care and support in the neighbourhood.
• Leaflets about activities and social events are available at the GP’s surgery.
• We’re looking into ways to make it easier for you to get in touch with Samen055.

Plenty of opportunities to meet people and take part in activities in the neighbourhood

Together, we organise great activities in the neighbourhood. So that you can meet up and spend time together:

• We tell people where they can find help if they organise activities themselves. For example, through the Initiatives Scheme.
• We are going to keep people better informed about local sports and cultural activities.
• We are working on ‘streets of love and support’ where neighbours look out for one another more. And we are helping to set up ‘care circles’: groups of 10–15 households that help one another.

Clarity on public transport

There are other forms of public transport available. For example, De Kap, Automobiel and Zorgzaam. We provide information about these in the neighbourhood newsletter and the Berkenhove newsletter.

A sense of security

The community support officers and the neighbourhood police officer are regularly seen in the neighbourhood. Whenever possible, they also attend residents’ meetings to find out what’s going on. In this way, we work together to ensure the neighbourhood remains safe.

Living well in a rented property

The local council and the housing associations are working together to ensure that tenants continue to enjoy living in their rented homes.

Helping young people on their way to independence

Some young people find it difficult to stand on their own two feet. For them, there is the ‘Living with Opportunities’ programme. Accommodation is being provided on Badhuisweg where they can gradually work towards living independently.

The Energiepunt (municipality) and the energy co-operative deA help residents make their homes more sustainable. The neighbourhood newsletter details all the work they do. Through the ‘Groene Buur’ project, for example, deA helps residents make their homes more sustainable. The Energiepunt also visits the neighbourhood regularly to offer tips and advice.

More places to meet and get active

We are working together to create more meeting places and playgrounds:

• A small playground is to be built on Neptunusstraat.
• The square at De Korenaar is now also open outside school hours.
• A local resident is looking into the possibility of creating a playground on Bilderdijklaan.

Good pavements

On Sumatralaan, Aquamarijnstraat and Jachtlaan, the hedges are encroaching onto the pavement. We are asking residents to trim them back. There are also places where the pavement is very sloping or where there is no pavement at all. We will address such issues during major maintenance work (where possible).

A lovely green space on Koning Lodewijklaan

We are refurbishing the green space on Koning Lodewijklaan. We are drawing up a plan together with local residents. This will make it a pleasant and accessible place.

Drive more slowly in the neighbourhood

People are driving too fast in various places. We’re looking into what we can do about this. We’ll be tackling some streets quite soon. Others will take a little longer. Among other things, we’re doing the following:

• We are reducing the speed limit on a section of Sprengenweg. There will also be road narrowings, roundabouts and speed bumps.
• Among other things, speed bumps are to be installed on Soerenseweg.
• Part of Jachtlaan is being refurbished.
• For a number of other streets, we are looking at how speed limits can be reduced as part of major maintenance works. These include, for example, Aquamarijnstraat, Koning Lodewijklaan, Jacob Catslaan and Planetenlaan.

Fewer parking problems

In some areas, there are significant parking problems. We are taking steps to reduce these. Among other things, we are doing the following:

• As a trial, we’re using temporary road markings and signs to indicate where you’re allowed to park.
• The parking space in the green area near the Loohof is being modified.
• There is a lot of traffic in the Berkenhove area. That is why we are amending the parking permit scheme for part of Soerenseweg. We are also looking into what else might help.
• On Aquamarijnstraat, we are carrying out research into parking pressure and looking at possible measures.

Safe junctions

Some junctions are dangerous because of poor visibility. Sometimes it is also not clear that you are approaching a junction. We are looking at which junctions are affected. And we are investigating what would be most effective.

• We are asking residents living near the junction of Jachtlaan and Aquamarijnstraat to trim their hedges.
• We are applying road markings at Churchillplein.
• As part of the major maintenance programme, we are looking at other junctions that residents have identified as dangerous.

We are looking into whether more pedestrian crossings could be introduced on Sterrenlaan and Sumatralaan.
