Improving traffic flow Laan van Zevenhuizen

As Apeldoorn grows, we are also seeing an increase in traffic. This through traffic needs to be channelled increasingly via the outer ring road and less through the city centre. That is why we need to tackle the traffic problems on Apeldoorn’s outer ring road. One of the traffic bottlenecks is the Laan van Zevenhuizen. There are already problems with traffic flow on Laan van Zevenhuizen. We want to prevent these problems from getting worse in the future as the city grows.

What are we going to do?

We are looking into how we can improve traffic flow on Laan van Zevenhuizen. To gain a clear picture of current and future traffic levels, we are counting the traffic using cameras.

From 9 to 23 March, we will be installing four cameras, all near the Anklaar shopping centre:

  • Two on Laan van Zevenhuizen
  • Two on the northern section of Sluisoordlaan

The cameras count the volume of traffic and the directions from which it is coming.

How do we handle privacy?

We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The cameras record traffic movements only and do not capture any images in which individuals can be recognised. The footage captured by the cameras is deleted within four weeks of processing.

What happens next?

This year, we expect to gain a clear picture of:

  • future traffic problems
  • possible solutions to improve traffic flow

As soon as we know more about the solutions and how they will be implemented, we will share this information on this webpage.
