Adequate support for people with dementia and their families and carers

We explain what people can do to support residents with dementia. We do this through activities at community centres in the neighbourhood. These activities are listed in the neighbourhood council’s newsletter.

More places to meet up

We are working to ensure that residents can meet up easily:

• We are looking into whether the neighbourhood can make use of the communal areas in the apartment blocks. We are also looking at which other areas within these blocks would be suitable for people to meet up.
• The neighbourhood police officer is coming to the neighbourhood council’s local pub. There, we’ll discuss the neighbourhood’s wishes, such as for meeting places.
• We would like to draw residents’ attention to the Initiative broker. They can help with residents’ initiatives. The Initiatives Broker will also be visiting the neighbourhood council’s community café at some point.
• The newsletter and the neighbourhood café are highlighting the need for more benches in the neighbourhood. Residents can request a bench via the Initiatives Scheme. It is important that they then ask their neighbours themselves whether they would like this too.

An active neighbourhood council

We believe it is important for the neighbourhood council to remain active. That is why we are looking for new board members:

• We’re handing out leaflets to recruit board members.
• We are asking active residents if they would like to help out on the neighbourhood council.

Fewer speeding drivers

We are tackling speeding in the neighbourhood. Particularly in areas where the risks are high, such as near schools, care homes and cycle routes:

• Where necessary, we install temporary speed displays.
• We are discussing with the Public Prosecution Service whether a temporary speed camera can be installed.
• As part of the renovation of the Heuvellaan School, we are making the surrounding area safe for pedestrians and cyclists. In due course, school zones will be introduced at all primary schools to ensure road safety.
• Visitors to Visio Het Loo Erf sometimes drive too fast along Waldeck-Pyrmontstraat. The neighbourhood council is organising a meeting to discuss this. Visio Het Loo Erf, the local council and residents of the street will be present.

Safe Koninginnelaan

We are making Koninginnelaan safer:

• A 30km zone is being introduced between Anklaarseweg and Edisonlaan. A pedestrian crossing will be installed at De Groene Hoven.
• The section between Edisonlaan and Langeweg will also be designated as a 30 km/h zone.
• We are looking into whether, in the longer term, the section between Langeweg and Bas Backerlaan can be redesigned.

Fewer parking problems

We are working to reduce parking-related problems:

• A trial was carried out in De Sprengen involving temporary road markings and signs. These indicated where parking is permitted. This has worked well. We are looking into whether this could also be done in De Naald.
• We are looking into whether we can launch a project to enforce parking regulations.
• We are making arrangements regarding parking with Paleis het Loo and other facilities in the surrounding area. We are also considering options such as a blue zone or parking permits.
• The neighbourhood council’s newsletter focuses on parking behaviour and the initiatives mentioned above.

Safe junctions

We are tackling unsafe junctions:

• We are holding discussions with local residents about improving the Stolberglaan–Loseweg junction.
• We are looking into whether the Zwolseweg–Anklaarseweg junction can be made safer by adjusting the traffic lights.
• We are removing a number of parking spaces at the Bosweg–Loolaan junction. This will make the junction clearer.

Maintaining a sense of safety in the neighbourhood

At the general meeting in April 2026, the neighbourhood police officer and the special investigating officer will give a presentation on ‘safety’.

Less disruption from letting out rooms

We take reports of nuisance caused by room letting seriously. If room letting contravenes the rules, we can take action if necessary.

Sustainable homes

We encourage residents to make their homes more sustainable. The Energy point will be held at the neighbourhood council’s local café. There, residents will be able to find out about grants and other support. There will also be an article in the neighbourhood council’s newsletter, setting out where residents can go for grants, support and advice. Special attention will be given to old houses.

Information about home batteries

An information evening on home batteries was organised in February. If there is sufficient interest, we will repeat the event. The neighbourhood council will then announce the date in the newsletter.

Burning wood safely and healthily

In the neighbourhood council’s newsletter, we provide information on healthy and safe heating. We also explain how you can report nuisance, for example via the Heating Guide. We would also like to draw your attention to the Energy Point, where you can borrow equipment such as a particulate matter monitor.

Less disruption caused by the heat

We are continuing with the measures to prevent the neighbourhood from getting too hot in the summer. For example, the Tegeltaxi, who collects old tiles from your garden. Or Additional tree, through which we’re giving away saplings to provide more shade and keep things cooler.

Proper care of the burial mounds

We carry out maintenance to keep the area around the burial mounds in good condition.

Sometimes pavements are blocked by hedges, parked cars, clutter or rubbish bins. The neighbourhood council’s newsletter explains where residents report a nuisance. The pavements are inspected and maintained annually in accordance with the council’s schedule.

Plenty of places for (older) young people to play and socialise

For older children, a new space for play and socialising is to be created at the skate park on Zwolseweg. We would also like to retain the school grounds of the former Juliana School as a space for play and green space.

Safe route to Visio Het Loo Erf

People who are visually impaired or blind must be able to get to Visio Het Loo Erf safely. We are investigating where safe crossing points and clear routes are needed.

Over the coming years, major maintenance work will be carried out on, amongst others, Loolaan, Koningstraat, Koninginnelaan and Soerenseweg. By then, we will be looking into ways of reducing traffic speeds. We will take into account the feedback from the residents’ consultation document.

Making better use of the gravel verges

The gravel verges along Loolaan are often used for parking. As part of major maintenance or redevelopment work, we want to ensure that these verges can be used for play, exercise and socialising.
