The Presidium and the Registry

The Presidium oversees the work of the municipal council, is responsible for managing the council’s financial resources and, as the employer, supervises the council secretariat. The council secretariat can assist you if you wish to put an issue on the political agenda, contact councillors or make a public statement.

The Presidium

The Presidium oversees the Council’s work (for example, monitoring the agenda, ensuring the quality of meeting documents, and allocating documents to the correct meeting), is responsible for managing the council’s financial resources and, as the employer, oversees the council secretariat. The Presidium usually meets on Thursday evenings before the start of the municipal council meetings. As these meetings are of an organisational (rather than policy-related) nature, the public is not actively invited to attend them.

The Council Secretariat in Apeldoorn is a small department that works for the municipal council. You can contact the Council Secretariat with any questions about the municipal council. Who works at the council secretariat?

Council Clerk Marit Stam is the chief adviser to the municipal council. Her duties include ensuring that everything is carried out in accordance with legislation and regulations, but she also acts as an adviser and sounding board for the council, the Presidium and individual councillors and political groups.

The strategic advisers help the local council to be well prepared. They do this by providing the council with accurate information in good time on complex issues. They offer advice and organise council meetings with residents, organisations and business owners
