In Apeldoorn, we believe it is important that everyone can receive help quickly in the event of a cardiac arrest. That is why we are working to establish a comprehensive network of AEDs across our municipality. A good network consists not only of a sufficient number of AEDs, but also of residents who know how to respond. Together with HartslagNu and with the help of residents, businesses and organisations, we are building a safer and healthier city.
To this end, the council is working step by step to establish a network in which an AED is installed at all key locations and is accessible 24 hours a day. HartslagNu helps us to determine exactly which locations require an AED to ensure the network provides comprehensive coverage. Only AEDs installed at these pre-determined locations can be included in the local authority’s network.
In addition, we are encouraging more and more residents to sign up as community first responders. When HartslagNu calls on them, they can arrive at the scene quickly and provide assistance until professional help arrives.

Yes. You can request leaflets via HartslagNu to distribute yourself in your street or neighbourhood. This will help encourage residents to sign up as community first responders.

In sparsely populated areas, it is sometimes not possible to establish a network with full coverage. For financial reasons, the local authority does not always install and maintain AEDs in these areas. However, the local authority works with HartslagNu to identify where AEDs are most effective and where additional deployment is required
